Faye and I thoroughly enjoyed our return visit to Cologne at the invitation of Michael Belz of FotoWerkstatt. Despite the slight restriction of having to use a translator we managed, I hope, to convey our love for photography to the 60 delegates in the room. Our model for the practical demonstration was Lina and these are just of few of my images that Faye has had time to process since our return. I am hopeful that a few more will follow later this week. Thank you again to Larissa, Michael, Lina and our translator Leonie.

Faye and I find it so rewarding when we receive messages such as this following mentoring sessions. It makes us feel that we have given our clients a focus and direction for their business.

Yesterday, Sunday, we held one of our boutique workshops here at Claremont. A small group of photographers all wanting to advance their knowledge in lighting and posing techniques. In the morning we had Chloe and her younger brother Liam as our 2 models. We demonstrated how we used the various light modifiers in our small studio, soft box, beauty dish, gridded reflector and of course the Fresnel spotlight.  All lighting equipment provided by our favourite sponsors BOWENS. After one of Faye’s wonderful buffet lunches, with apple pie and cream, we had the pleasure of working with one of our favourite models, Fredau. I was not aware that when we first booked Fredau as a model over a year ago it was only her second job, she has come quite a way in such a very short time. We used several lighting techniques in the afternoon, including daylight and I have already places an image from that session on Facebook. I was so pleased with the daylight images that we had done with the group that after they had left we went back into the studio and spent 10 minutes creating some more images in the same style but slightly more evocative.  Faye will be posting some more images on her FB page and more will appear on here later this week. Don’t forget that we will be at FOCUS next week, appearing on the BOWENS stand on the Monday and Tuesday @ 11.30am and again on the SWPP stand in the afternoon. Stop by and say hello.

We have been invited once again to be guest speakers on the BOWENS stand and with the SWPP on theirs at this years FOCUS on IMAGING show in Birmingham in March. Dates/times will follow once we have confirmed.

We are just back after 6 days in London at the SWPP Convention. We hosted 2 super classes and 1 MasterClass. Image will follow later today.

We spent 2 of the days judging the 20×16 competition with some wonderful fellow judges from Canada, the States and of course the UK.

Well here we are, a New Year stretches ahead of us, lots of ideas, lots of projects lots of exciting images to be created.

At the moment we are getting ready for the January SWPP Convention at the Novotel in London. We will be judging on the Wednesday and Thursday, Super Class on the Friday and Sunday, both sold out I am afraid, and a Master Class on the Saturday to which all are welcome. In between time we will be doing a daily 30-minute demonstration on the BOWENS stand somewhere in the Trade Area. Both John Swanell and ourselves have been invited to supply Fotospeed with images from display on their exhibition area so that will be something to look forward to seeing. We will also have a small exhibition of 12 images on Level 2 of the Novotel with a selection of small mounted, signed and studio stamped images for sale.
