  • THE LIGHT & POSING WORKSHOP

Yesterday, Sunday, we held one of our boutique workshops here at Claremont. A small group of photographers all wanting to advance their knowledge in lighting and posing techniques. In the morning we had Chloe and her younger brother Liam as our 2 models. We demonstrated how we used the various light modifiers in our small studio, soft box, beauty dish, gridded reflector and of course the Fresnel spotlight.  All lighting equipment provided by our favourite sponsors BOWENS. After one of Faye’s wonderful buffet lunches, with apple pie and cream, we had the pleasure of working with one of our favourite models, Fredau. I was not aware that when we first booked Fredau as a model over a year ago it was only her second job, she has come quite a way in such a very short time. We used several lighting techniques in the afternoon, including daylight and I have already places an image from that session on Facebook. I was so pleased with the daylight images that we had done with the group that after they had left we went back into the studio and spent 10 minutes creating some more images in the same style but slightly more evocative.  Faye will be posting some more images on her FB page and more will appear on here later this week. Don’t forget that we will be at FOCUS next week, appearing on the BOWENS stand on the Monday and Tuesday @ 11.30am and again on the SWPP stand in the afternoon. Stop by and say hello.

    Sunday’s Portrait

Yesterday we created some images of Chloe one of our favourite models and soon to be teenager. Once again I used my Hasselblad and 150mm lens. TriX film (expired 2007) and TMax developer. A straight scan on the Epson V750 with some retouching and tone added. More film from the session currently drying so will get those scanned and selected later today.

    Fredau

This is perhaps the final image taken from our session with Fredau last week. It was again shot on the Hasselblad 500CX with the 150mm chrome lens. TriX film stock and processed in TMax developer. Once again, as in the previous image, simple window light. I think the exposure was 50th @ F4.

    BANNED!

Seems  Facebook banning runs in the family! Anyway here is the image that was removed. Thank you all who took the time to leave such wonderful comments. Shot on my Hasselblad with the 150 chrome lens onto TriX film stock which I processed in TMax developer and then scanned  using the Epson V750. Apart from some retouching, dodging and a slight tone its pretty much a straight scan.

    THE BANNED IMAGE.

Well everyone… here is Faye’s image. THE BANNED IMAGE…..Removed from FACEBOOK because someone thought there was a reason to report it.???????. I would really like to know WHY.!!!!!!. Can anyone work this out.

    Answers on FACEBOOK please.

    The Nude

This is an image taken on one of our Art Nude workshops last summer at a ruined location near where we live. I have already posted this image but on reviewing it have done a little more work which, I think, is an improvement. Sometime you are never satisfied with an image and each time you view it something else is brought to your attention that for some reason you missed the last time. This can be an ongoing process with some images and yet there are others which once completed are complete.

WEDDINGS – The Art & The Business

After much persuasion from Faye, I have agreed to do a 1-day Wedding workshop in the sumptuous house and grounds of the beautiful and romantic  Maunsel House in North Somerset. The date we have agreed is Tuesday the 31st of May and it will run from 10.00am until 5.00pm. We will have 2 lovely bridal models wearing stunning wedding gowns and supported by our handsome groom. We will have the exclusive use of Maunsel House for the day, including its bedrooms and gilded ballrooms, with views onto the extensive grounds. We will also have use of the exterior of the church on the Maunsel estate, as well as use of all the surrounding grounds. The day starts with coffee and a look at the business side of weddings:- how to set yourself apart from your local competition, how to market and brand your business effectively and how to structure your wedding fees. We’ll then move onto the shooting part of the day, splitting into 2 groups of 5, each with a ‘bride’, using 2 of Maunsel’s bedrooms to photograph the bridal preparations. Once completed, we will move to some ‘leaving’ images before we set off for the church, where we will capture some before and after ceremony images. On our way back to the house we will do some romantic, bridal portraits, with and without our groom. The day will end with some romantic couple portraits in the main house, using both the dining room and ballroom and then finishing the day’s shooting in the bedrooms. A very full day available only to 10 delegates @ £450.00 or, if a place is reserved before the 31st March 2011, £395.00 inclusive of all model fees, refreshments and a 2 course lunch. For more details please email trevor@yerburystudio.com
