For several months I have been suggesting to photographers on our workshops to ‘walk in the other direction’ and few, if any, have taken that challange so I have decided to put my money where my mouth is. More on this later.  Today’s image is a young lady called Chloe who we have photographed before. We used the new GeminiPro heads, soft box, barn doors and a softstrip.

    MAGAZINE

Last month I was delighted to be asked to write the introduction to a magazine devoted to Fine Art Nude and Glamour Photography. Today we received our copy and I must say that we are very impressed both with the content and the quality of the printing so congratulations to Adam and his staff at Bright Publishing and if this is a success then perhaps another on the cards for next year. You can purchase a copy at any W H Smith’s or get a discounted copy from Bright Publishing’s website. Other contributors whose work is featured include industry icons John Swanell and John Stoddart.

    NICOLA

Last weekend, before our Loxley workshop, we did a session with our dear friend Nicola aka. Vivien (her stage name) for her new London agent and for Spotlight. We also did some hair shots for her father who owns one of Edinburgh’s most prestigious salons. We have only just got round to processing the files and when I saw what Faye was doing I just had to post them on the blog for you all to see. Again a mixture of Faye’s own actions, Kubota and Totally Rad.

    MONDAY @ LOXLEY’S

Today we are just putting together our final presentation for Monday’s Wedding Workshop at Loxley’s in Glasgow.

Our trip to Tuscany seems almost a lifetime away now and with wind and rain lashing the office windows our thoughts travel back to those 6 wonderful days in the sun and one thing that always makes any workshop truly worthwhile are the emails that we receive afterward’s and today I am posting one of those today.

    Dear Faye and Trevor,

As I sit here typing this, I can’t believe that our Tuscan adventure
has been and gone.  But, oh, what an adventure it was.

The deciding factor in our extravagance of coming on the courses was
your involvement.  Cleverer and wiser people than me will have
showered you with compliments but Cliff and I were so excited (and
more than a little nervous) at the thought of receiving instruction
from you both.  However, our insecurities disappeared as soon as we
    met you.

It was an amazing experience and I am still pinching myself at our
good fortune.  I’m completely hooked on the fine-art nude and you have
helped us to find a direction for our photography.  You have inspired
us, not only with your great ability and success but, on a human note,
by your humour, generosity and grace.

So, we thank you both.  We have grown as photographers and as a couple
working together by being taught by you.

    Take care.

    TWISTED METAL

A blast from the past today, an image that won a Kodak Gold Award way back then! Our incomparable model Karen who featured heavily in a couple of our exhibitions, braved having her body ripped to shreds getting into the middle of these old pipes taken from a demolished ice making factory down in Leith Docks – Edinburgh. Before you ask shot on my gold plated Hasselblad with a 150mm lens, Kodak Portra 160. This is a scan of the original negative and no PS used at all.
